Ello guys!
Woohoo! Two posts in two days!!! Am I productive or what =DDD
Lol don't get used to it... this was pre-typed... just needed some finishing touches so I decided to finish it up while I was doing my haircut review. Meant to post this review a long time ago... -__-||| And 2 months later... it's finally up xD
If you catch me on my Instagram, you'll see that A LONG TIME AGO, I went to the store to pick up the Diorskin Star foundation samples to test out the foundation.
When I was Sephora, I honestly didn't think any of the shades would match me perfectly... because they all seemed either too dark or too light/pink. I was wrong xD Moral of the story: Never write a shade off until you've actually tried it on your face LOL.
I got my samples in shades 20 (left) and 21 (right)
Under the Sephora store lighting, the jump in the shades seemed huge, but under the sunlight it actually doesn't seem so bad. Top is shade 20, you can see it's on the pinker side (or I guess some ppl will consider it neutral??) , and bottom is 21, which is more yellow/beige.

Okay I lied, real action starts here XD

Shade 21
Shade 20. You can see shade 20 actually isn't that pink when swatched on my face.
You can't really tell that I used two different shades on my face right? LOL.
I actually applied too much foundation in this pic so it looks really cakey. I have better pics later but just see this pic as a reference for the shades comparison ^_^
This side with 21.
This side with 20.

So I decided in order to show the shades differences, I would include my upper body aka neck/shoulder/arm so you can see how the foundation matches with the rest of my body!
Sorry... ahjumma face. Y'all know how lazy I am.... haha
21... matches relatively well with the rest of my body
21
20 ain't too bad either.
20. Like I said not bad but perhaps just a touch pinker than the rest of my body?
In the end I think I decided I actually preferred shade 21. Please keep in mind I was more tanned when I took these photos, so I believe my face is more NC25 than NC20. Honestly both shades work just fine. I think NC20 ppl can still pull off #21. But if you feel unsafe, go for #20.

Once I decided I liked shade 21 more, I took off the foundation and reapplied shade 21 all over my face (with BeautyBlender)
Overall effect:
8.5 hours later
You can actually still see my blush XD so the foundation was intact.
I did get quite greasy.
Not too bad! It looks quite okay in the photos but in person I think it looks just okay. Have definitely tried other foundations that look better at the end of the day! Also it was starting to feel heavy on my skin...
My overall thoughts for my first impression?
I do like it has pretty good coverage... as you can see in my bare face pics, I had some little red spots/redness going on, and it covered quite well! So I'd say it's a medium coverage. I would consider this foundation a semi-matte foundation... it's the type of foundation that gives a more of a matte finish but with a glow (sort of reminds me of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua but then the texture of the two foundations are completely different. The finishes are similar enough though, so I think it depends on what kind of consistency you like. If you like a more gel-cream type, go for Chanel. If you prefer a creamy-liquid foundation, go for Dior. Dior doesn't slip or crease as easily as Chanel VA though).
Ummm... what else? Honestly I don't have much to say about this foundation. I think it's nice but it didn't blow me away. My reaction after trying it on after seeing all the rave reviews on YouTube was... Oh? That's it???? Lol! I think this is just an average foundation. Nothing special really. Like after trying it out once, I'm not compelled to reach for it again. Yep, a very lukewarm review XD I still think YSL Touche Elcat foundation is the best =D
Have you tried the Diorskin Star foundation? What do you think about it? I honestly think it's overrated.
Alrighty guys! That concludes my review. I think the next time I show my face it will be 2015 O_o hahaha. We'll see if I can get my yearly favorites up and running before then :P
Stay warm and happy holidays ^_^
