Dolly Wink No.2 Gray Pink Eye Shadow Palette Review

Hey guys!

This is a way overdue post 囧! Cuz I bought this like earlier this year? But I just never got around to review this and the No.1 Palette... cuz... honestly... I wasn't super impressed with them (囧 x 2!!) So I wasn't that excited to write a review on it... (Tsubasa fans please don't kill me >_<)  but since I decided to use this palette today, might as well :P This is probably only the third time I used it @_@

As usual, let's take a look at the packaging cuz you all know Dolly Wink has the most adorable packaging!

The palette itself is small, which I like ^_^ doesn't take up much space is always a bonus!

The swatches look pretty good on my hands. My main disappointment is the pink eye shadow, which in my opinion is the life and soul of this palette. Unfortunately, I found the pink eye shadow to be the least pigmented, and it just doesn't translate that well on my skin (maybe it's my skin tone). I have to use a wet brush to apply the pink shade to get the intensity I want. The greys and the black are also not as intense when applied on my eyes.

And I guess a lot of it is I compare the eye shadow performance with my high-end eye shadows (like Lancome) so I guess I'm not really being fair. I want to say it is a very good quality palette for a drugstore product (but then again quite expensive for drugstore as well), but it just doesn't match up with high-end ones. Also I am not too fond of the texture of the eye shadow????? I can't describe it but I do prefer certain textures when it comes to eye shadows. I just don't like the feel of these as well.

I don't usually wear lower lashes on a regular basis so I just did my regular eyeliner routine. The pink eye shadow looks weird on its own if I don't wear bottom lashes or eyeliner.

You can see the dark grey didn't show up too well. And I did use a wet brush to apply the pink shade to build up the intensity.

Hm I really don't have that much to say so I guess that's it? I love the color scheme of this palette but I wish the pink one is more pigmented.

That's all I have ^_^

Thanks for reading ^_~

  1. The look you did is really pretty! It's too bad the pigmentation is lacking. :)

  2. awwwwww the packaging is so adorable!! But I can see what you're talking about for the texture~ From the pictures of your finger swatches, the eyeshadow looks a little grainy? Or like glittery chunks or something >< haha~ Do you like the soft and buttery type eyeshadows? :D

I was reading Popteen yesterday and like.. almost 1/3 of the makeup tutorials used this eyeshadow palette, but in the brown colors o___o haha~ It's so popular! But it's a bummer that the eyeshadows aren't the texture that you want ): I think Rimmel eyeshadows from the US are superrr soft!! :DDD

  3. The only items from Dolly Wink that I'd ever consider buying are the lashes and the liquid liner pen. Tsubasa's images are always heavily photoshopped and I just don't dare paying that much for a palette and then (as I'd expect) the pigmentation is as bad as it seems in your review. I love Tsubasa's style and her lashes/looks are gorgeous, but most of it is undoubtedly 85% photoshop.

  4. I'm so glad to finally see a review of this! I've been so so curious~ but I'm not buying one for myself because I have too many eye shadow palettes already =_= it's a pity the colours are not more pigmented...but you look really pretty :)

  8. hello hello Mimi =DDD Hmmmm the eye shadows actually aren't grainy... (although they do appear so in the pics) but they're kind of like... silky in the bad way?? like slippery silky not rich silky O_O you know what I mean??? but YES soft and buttery is EXACTLY what I like in eye shadows!!! Hahahah you know me well XD soft and buttery soft and buttery soft and butteryyyyyy... just feel like saying that three times XD sounds so yummy XD

lol the brown palette is the No.1 palette, I have that one too XD but I didn't like it either -__- for different reasons though @_@ I think Popteen is just trying to advertise for her... after all she was a popteen model for a while. Thanks for the recommendation :D I will keep that in mind ^_^

  9. ive heard so many mixed reviews on Tsubasa's eyeshadow palettes. Esp really bad ones >_<;; the eyeshadow looks like it has MAJOR fallout! :O
Im not a super big fan of her or her products, but i will admit that her lashes & eyeliner range intrigues me to give them a go ^_^ just not so much these palettes~~

  10. Hahaha you did? I picked them up as soon as they came out so I didn't read any reviews beforehand >_< sighh I should've waited. I got them cuz I liked the liquid eyeliner lol! Actually the eye shadows don't have a lot of fall-outs... I just don't like the texture/pigmentation and plus they don't hold up too well even with primer -__- hehe I used to want all her lashes collection so badly! but after trying them and seeing most of them in person I kind of lost interest.... they're too wide/long and dramatic for me =P I have teeny-tiny Asian eyes XD

  11. I'm surprised that pink and grey could actually go well as eye make up. I think I would look like a joke should I try this pink and grey look. I think you pulled the look well but pity about it not being pigmented enough. I love the case though... black heart motif design!

  12. Me too! When I saw her ad campaign I thought it was the neatest combo ever ^_^ I know does the case kind of remind of you Anna Sui? :D
